Hagia Sophia was mosque for 483 years, then it converted to a museum in 1935 without getting permission from Turkish Muslims or from Muslim world.
Today the Hagia Sophia issue is being discussed again after the words of Recep Tayyip Erdogan who seems determined to convert it to mosque again.
I am sure most of people in Turkey would say yes to a decision like this but there are also some other people who do not agree.
Here is a simple poll i made lately and here are the results.
Should Hagia Sofia be converted to mosque again?

According to the results, Most of those who want Hagia Sophia as church are my Greek followers but i am sure there are some non-Christians Turks between them as well.
And the ones who want Hagia Sophia as Museum should be considered as people with left political thoughts.
I think, in Turkey if a referendum took place about Hagia Sophia, the results would not have big difference than this.
Now, lets come to the point where all Christians or non-Muslims are requesting respect for Hagia Sophia from Turkish Muslims and Turkish government , at the name of monument of World cultural heritage or a direct respect to Christianity.
But the question is ''are they right to request this''
*in a world, Muslim civilians, children and women are being killed by air strikes by so called Democratic forces, actually by ''Christians''.
Do you need to know the number of those Muslim civilians killed? you should better know it but do not worry , i won't mention it and i will not make you feel worse about this.
*in a world, mosques are being destroyed by Christians. (see Irak, Syria or any other muslim country occupied by Christians.)
*in a world, Christian media cannot call the Christian man as ''terrorist'' even if he kills more than 50 Muslims in a mosque on Live stream.
*in a world, Christian governments, although they consider it as terrorist organisation, still support the PKK which destroyed tens of mosques and killed many of Imams and Muslim civilians in Turkey.
*in a world, Christian governments are supporting Feto terrorist organisation which killed more than 250 muslim Turkish civilians in military coup in 2016.
*in a world, Christian governments escalate the hatred for Muslims and making Islamophobia their political manifests.
*in a world, Christian media try to label Muslims as terrorists in every chance.
*in a world, Christians cooperate with their worst enemy ''Zionist Jews'' who teach their children from the time they start to speak '' how to commit blasphemy Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary , prophet Muhammad and islam''
*in a world, Muslims as first who stand against those who commit blasphemy Christ and virgin Mary.
Do you think Christians are right to ask from Turkish people or government to respect Hagia Sophia?
Hagia Sophia, other Churches, Christianism or any other religion are respected by Muslims, that is what our religion teaches us, that is why you still can see Christian symbols in Hagia sophia, if Fatih had no respect, he could destroy all of them at the very first moment he was able to do.
He converted Hagia Sophia into a mosque, if he had no respect, he would destroy it completely. Hagia Sophia became a mosque because he considered Hagia Sophia a worthy place to do it, to go on worshiping God.
Christians should understand that Hagia Sophia as museum does not mean anything, this structure were build for people to worship God.
If it will be converted into mosque again, It will be then suitable for the purpose of this amazing construction.
Some people say ''what if christians converted Kaaba in Makkah to a church? how would you feel? ''
Kaaba is not in borders of a Christian country, this comparison has no meaning. Kaaba has no status of a mosque. Muslims do not pray inside it , but outside of it , it is the center of the praying direction of all Muslims around the world.
Christians should look at themselves and ask, ''how much respect we have for Muslims, mosques and Islam? what did we do until today about this? ''
Especially in Greece: they should ask, ''why we support PKK, why we support FETO and any other country which is against Turkey! Why we try to stream the blood of innocent Palestinian Muslims to Greece? why do not we choose to be against Zionists who steal Muslim lands everyday, killing and arresting Muslim women and children. Why we support Zionists who claim the land of Syrians. why we support Pkk although we know that Israel leads PKK to build the dream of ''Great İsrael''..
Please my dear Friends, ask all those questions to yourself first, find the right answers. and if you still think you are right to request respect from Muslims (which already you have more than what you deserve), then we may have another discussion about it.
We Muslims respect other religions and people in the world and this is off debate..
Hagia sophia is beyond all of those discussions, it has the most respect of us and that is why we want to use it as mosque, as it was for 483 years. This is our right and this is something anyone have to respect for all those reasons i mentioned in this article.
Any UNESCO, any organisation or any Country, has no right to request respect for Hagia Sophia from Muslims, until they stop bloodshed in this world.
